About the Steering Committee

The AfCAP’s Steering Committee provides the strategic guidance to the Secretariat in achieving the goals of the Partnership. The Steering Committee is composed of various state and non-state actors who are engaged in progressing low emission climate-resilient development on the continent. The geographical and linguistic spread of the Steering Committee members is representative of the AfCAP’s membership base. The Steering Committee is ably headed by our rotating chairs. Amudi Chioma Felistas Edeh from Nigeria, who will act as the first chair and Lawrence Mashungu from Uganda, who will act as the second chair.

Amudi Chioma Felistas Edeh

  • Amudi Chioma Felistas Edeh is an expert on issues of Climate Change and Environment, currently working at Federal Ministry of Environment, Department of Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought Management, Abuja who has spent her years working at local, national and international level. Nigeria born and based, Ms. Chioma is an Ast. Chief Scientific Officer with 15 years of demonstrative experiences in the climate movement, Environmental Issue with particular focus on Mitigation, Environmental/Climate Change Project Managements, Monitoring, Reporting and Verification of GHGs, Landscape Restoration, Drought Management, Desertification Management, Gender, Green Job Assessment, and Nationally Determined Contribution.

Lawrence Mashungu

  • Lawrence Mashungu is the NDC/LT-LEDS Expert and Coordinator with the  UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centre  for Eastern and Southern Africa ( RCC Kampala). He has vast experience on climate change having worked with the Government of Zimbabwe where he coordinated the development of the LEDS and NDC Implementation.

Dr Alain Serges Kouadio

  • Dr Alain Serges Kouadio holds a PhD in Economics, Environment and Natural Resources. Since 2013, he has been the Director of Green Economy and Social Responsibility at the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development in Cote d’Ivoire.

Kofi Boateng

  • Kofi Boateng is Agriculture program associate at the Global Methane Hub (GMH). He works with the program team in the development, management and monitoring of results-based grantmaking in the agriculture portfolio at the Hub. He also focuses on assisting the program director to put in place processes necessary to enable the timely use of evidence to support program design and develop effective verification and evaluation systems.

    Prior to joining GMH, Kofi, was a research scientist at the CSIR-Soil Research Institute in Ghana. He has also previously worked with Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture in various capacities. He holds a PhD in Agro-environmental Engineering and a Msc. Environmental Resource Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology-Ghana.

Harifidy Rakoto Ratsimba

  • Harifidy Rakoto Ratsimba is a Researcher on Natural Resources Monitoring at the School of Agronomy of the University of Antananarivo. He is currently the Head Researcher of Land Development (Land, Landscape and Development Research Lab) and works on science / policy interfaces in the field of sustainable land management.

Prof. Abdelilah Araba

  • Prof. Abdelilah Araba works at the Hassan II Institute of Agronomy and Veterinary Medicine institution in Rabat.He is the Professor and Head of the Department of Animal Production and Biotechnology in Morocco. His area of expertise is in ruminant nutrition, sustainable livestock production systems, livestock-environment interaction.
